Notwithstanding the turbulent period through which life in Palestine passed during the last nine months as a result of the anti-Jewish Arab riots of a year ago, the Jewish National Fund has added considerable stretches of land to its possessions during the same period, according to a report received through the Jewish National Fund of America, and made public by Emanuel Newmann, president.
The purchase of a site for an American Zionist colony in Palestine, to be known as Nachlath Pittsburgh, was completed during the period, the report states. The land on which the colony will be erected is located in the Western part of the Valley of Jezreel and comprises an area of 2,287 dunams. The project was initiated by the Zionists of Pittsburgh, Pa., who contributed up to date the initial sum of $30,000 for the purpose.
