Chicago Zionist leaders are considerably provoked at the editorial in the “Chicago Tribune,” commenting on the report of the Mandates Commission. The “Tribune” had pointed out that the assertion that the Commission’s decision was a neutral one or that it had been reached without the influence of outside interests was not warranted.
Max Shulman, president of the Chicago Zionist District, said that the “Tribune’s” editorial shows that the paper is either unfamiliar with the work being done by the Zionists or it had “a malicious desire to create trouble.” Chicago Zionists are planning to draw up a reply to the “Tribune’s” editorial and to demand that the “Tribune” either retract or explain its original statement.
A committee consisting of Judge Harry A. Fisher, Rabbi Solomon Goldman and Max Shulman will call on Col. R. R. McCormick, editor of the “Tribune,” after Labor Day to demand an explanation of the editorial.
