The Liberal weekly, “The Nation,” commenting on the Mandates Commission’s report declares, “It is highly salutary that our membership be impartially surveyed by men of Lord Lugard’s calibre and experience, and we will make ourselves ridiculous if we are unable to bear their measured criticisms and suggestions without the official outburst of indignation echoed with megaphones in certain sections of the British press.”
