Rabbi Lazarev, chief rabbi of Leningrad, and M. Yasnogorodski, president of the Leningrad Jewish community, both of whom were exiled to Solovetsky Island, last April, have contracted tuberculosis since their exile. In June it was expected that Rabbi Lazarev would be released from exile and permitted to live anywhere in Russia except in Moscow, Leningrad and four other large cities. The ritual slaughterer of Homel, M. Kashdan, was arrested today.
