Rabbi Benjamin Werne, who conducted services at Temple Emanu-El here during the high holy days, has just been elected to serve as rabbi for the ensuing year at a quarterly meeting of the congregation. He receives the post formerly held by Rabbi Emanuel J. Jack, now retired from the rabbinate. Rabbi Werne formerly served in temples at Jamaica, L. I., and Columbus, Ohio, and before ordainment was principal of Hebrew schools in Los Angeles, Calif., and Dallas, Texas. At Columbus, he lectured on Jewish history at Ohio University.
