The continued existence of the Warsaw Emigration Bureau is made impossible, it was learned today, because the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) of New York has suddenly discontinued its subsidy to the bureau. The Warsaw Emigration Bureau has for many years been serving the interests of Jewish emigrants.

Its suspension will mean that hundreds of Jewish workers who have already emigrated to Western Europe and South America will be exposed to swindlers and forgers. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns that the council of Jewish Professional Unions of Poland has decided to make a vigorous protest to HIAS against its action.

The action of HIAS is probably due to the perilous financial condition in which it finds itself. World-wide appeals have been made to prevent this internationally-known organization from curtailing its activities for lack of funds.
