Excellent response from non-Jews as well as Jews to the campaign of the Jewish Welfare Fund was reported at a meeting at the Sinton hotel here tonight as former Mayor Murray Seasongood counted $134,000 already raised toward the $190,000 goal. As chairman of the campaign Mr. Season good, upon the request of the team captains, extended the time limit one week so that the complete sum may be attained.
“Considering the present economic conditions, this is a remarkable response,” he said. “It should help to keep Cincinnati before the nation as a leader in Jewish affairs.”
Among the non-Jewish subscribers were Mrs. Charles P. Taft with $5,000. Mayor Russel Wilson with $100, and Myers Y. Cooper with $50.
“White and colored, Catholic and Protestant are sympathetic to this cause,” said William H. Shroder, executive vice-chairman. “With that sort of spirit we have a right to expect every Jew who can contribute to help us attain our goal.”
