A total of $234,503 in benefactions to Jewish and general philanthropies was distributed today by the executors of the estate of the late Julius Galland who died four years ago leaving a fortune estimated at more than half a million dollars. Of the total benefactions announced by the executors $138,040 go to Jewish organizations and the rest to general associations.
Temple Emanu-El receives $97,500; Congregation Keneseth Israel Hebrew School Building Fund gets $2,500; Spokane Jewish Welfare Association, $250, and Keneseth Israel Temple, $37,790. The largest gifts to non-Jewish philanthropies are $35,000 for a building for a new children’s home to be known as the Julius Galland Children’s Home, $12,600 for scholarship funds at Washington State College, $15,664 to the Spokane Children’s Home and Hospital and $10,000 to the Masonic Shrine Orthopedic Hospital.
