At least half a million dunams of land in Palestine are suitable for citrus fruit cultivation, according to an estimate made public today by M. Smilansky, one of the leading orange growers here. Mr. Smilansky’s statement is in contrast to the estimates made by government experts and by Jewish agency experts, who placed the available citrus land at 300,000
Mr. Smilansky, who has been in Palestine for forty years, pointed out that the Jews have recently found land in the Emek and in the Jordan valley suitable for citrus cultivation.
