First reports from various centers in the United States showed that the blow given the Jews through Great Britain’s recent measures on Palestine had stimulated them to greater interest in Jewish affairs, so that the Allied Jewish Campaign is meeting with unusually quick response, it was stated today by David M. Bressler, one of the national chairman of the campaign.
The goal of the campaign is $6,000,000 to be used by the Joint Distribution Committee in helping better the economic condition of Jews in Europe, and by the Jewish Agency for Palestine in helping build a Jewish National Home in Palestine. The Joint Distribution Committee has administered almost $100,000,000 contributed by Jews of this country during the last ten years for a###ng the Jews of Europe. It will receive $3,500,000 of this year’s quota. The Jewish Agency for Palestine will receive the remaining $2,500,000.
“The recent British action is stimulating the Jews of America,” said Mr. Bressler. “For instance, in Youngstown, Ohio, the $35,000 quota was reached far ahead of schedule, and the drive is still going strong.”
All forms of Jewish organization have joined the campaign.
