An alarming increase of service rendered by the thirteen local agencies under the Jewish Welfare Federation was reported by Samuel Goldhamer, executive director of the federation, in his survey of the federation’s activities for the past six months. “Not since 1922 have we experienced any such peaks in the demand for assistance as we have had in the past six months,” Mr. Goldhamer said.
