During the past several days sixteen American Jewish communities have responded to the call issued by M. M. Ussishkin, president of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, resigned president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, and Emanuel Neumann, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, to rally to the defense of the Jewish National Fund, the Zionist land purchase and reclamation agency, which was severely attacked in the Simpson Report and in the British government’s White Paper.
Local committees which have been formed have accepted considerable quotas which are to be raised in early campaigns, according to an announcement by the New York headquarters of the Jewish National Fund. The first Jewish National Fund campaign will be held in Danbury, Conn., today.
A Connecticut state conference of the Palestine Land Fund of the Jewish National Fund will be held in December. The conference will be addressed by M. M. Ussishkin who, it is expected, will be presented with a check for a considerable amount as Connecticut Jewry’s contribution toward the Fund.
The following communities are among the first to commence the organization of campaigns for the Palestine Land Fund: Montgomery, Ala., Bridgeport, Danbury, Hartford, New Britain, New Haven and South Norwalk, Conn.; Washington, D. C.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Baltimore, Md.; Mt. Vernon, N. Y.; Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pa.; Harrisburg, Pa.; and Providence, R. I.
