“A bad mess is made worse by this latest interpretation of the White Paper,” declared Alfred M. Cohen, president of B’nai Brith, yesterday in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Jewry, Mr. Cohen believes, must continue to register its protests against the White Paper.

Mrs. Edward Jacobs, president of Hadassah, commenting on Monday’s statement in Parliament by the British government with regard to its Palestine policy, said:

“Any explanations or modifications of the recent White Paper can only serve to make bad matters worse. Only a complete withdrawal could be accepted as the honest intention of the Labor government to carry out its Mandatory responsibility toward the Jewish people.”
