Egyptian Jewry as a body is not identified with any political party but stands for the King and the Egyptian nation states a letter published today under the joint signatures of the president of the Cairo and Alexandria Jewish communities. The letter was provoked by the announcement of M. Fargeon, a Jewish attorney, who, claiming to speak for a Union of Liberal Jews, declared the Union was ready to join the Wafd and fight for a constitution.

The announcement had caused considerable annoyance to Jewish leaders and created surprise in government circles.
