Two thousand eight hundred sixty-three Jewish immigrants entered the United States from July 1 to October 31 last, and 581 of this category entered during the month of October, it is shown by statistics issued by the Bureau of Immigration, Department of Labor today.

Total immigration for October, according to this announcement, was the lowest since October 1919, showing a drop of 3,850 or 21.6 per cent from the figure for the preceding month and 12,798 or 47.9 per cent less than for October 1929. This drop in immigration is attributed to the drastic instructions by President Hoover to consular officers for denials of visas to aliens who might become public charges.
