Objections by Philip Snowden, chancellor of the exchequer, to the proposed loan of $12,500,000 by the British government to the Palestine government to finance a land development scheme may lead to the rejection of the plan by the entire British cabinet, the London Jewish Chronicle says:
The parliamentary correspondent of the Jewish Chronicle, which has long been opposed to the Zionist Executive, states that it is becoming apparent from day to day that little importance is being attached to the negotiations between the Jewish Agency and the British government. While the results of the negotiations are still problematical, the Chronicle’s correspondent points out that it is clear that the government has now gained the upper hand and with the Whitechapel by-election out of the way ministerial circles are not worried about the Palestine situation.
