Two Jaffa Arabs, Darwish Al Feshaar and Aaref Al Azouni, who are being charged with conducting Communist propaganda among the Arab workers in Palestine, have been ordered to deposit sums of £50 and £40 respectively, in addition to two sums of £100 each provided by friends as a guarantee of future good behaviour. Both have been tried under the Prevention of Crimes Ordinance. Aaref Al Azouni is the Jaffa correspondent of the Palestine Arab paper “Al Hayat”.
The Arab delegates for the first time equalled the Jewish in numbers at the last Congress of the Palestine Communist Party held in December, the Moscow “Pravda” recently claimed, declaring that this Congress had pushed forward the Arabisation of the Central Committee. The congress was an “important turning-point in the Communist movement in the Arab countries”, the “Pravda” wrote.
Declaring that Zionist Chauvinism represents the main danger within the ranks of Palestine Communists, the “Pravda” indicated a future development of communist activity in Palestine by the following comment: “The sharpening of the struggle with Imperialism and Zionism in Palestine raises the question of the Palestine communist party”.
