Prominent Arab lawyers, including Abcarius Bey, Omar Saleh, and Sheih Assad Shukeiri of Acre, the great rival of the Grand Mufti in the north of Palestine, appeared as Counsel today for a number of Hebron inhabitants against the Supreme Moslem Council, of which the Grand Mufti is the head, demanding the restitution of the funds of the Hebron Wakf (Moslem Religious Endowment), which they claim are not being used for the relief of the poor of Hebron, according to the terms of the endowment.

The lawyers claimed that they represent all the inhabitants of Hebron in contending that the Grand Mufti is ignoring the clear terms of the charitable dedication of the revenue, which is collected by Government agents in the form of tithe.

The High Court, composed of Mr. Justice Corrie and Judge Jarallah, has adjourned the case, with a request to the plaintiffs to produce affidavits showing how the Moslem Supreme Council is ignoring the terms of the Endowment.
