Effective immediately the entire Australian government begins operating on a five-day week basis. Only the most essential services such as post office employes will henceforth be at work on Saturdays. To make up for the time lost as a result of the complete abolition of Saturday work in government departments, work will begin an hour earlier during the rest of the week.

This new government policy will make it possible for Jewish civil service employes in Australia to observe the Sabbath without conflicting with their jobs.
