The City Council today adopted a motion by Alderman B. Schwartz for the voluntary repatriation of unemployed foreigners and asked the federal government to make the plan effective.

Among the reasons given by Alderman Schwartz for the scheme was a desire to avoid a recurrence of last year’s protest against giving work to foreigners. It is therefore better to give the latter a chance to go home at the government’s expense if they wish, Mr. Schwartz said.
