The Angriff, Berlin organ of the Hitlerites, and the Voelkischer Beobachter, of Munich, the chief Hitlerite paper, appeared again today when their suspension was lifted Both papers publish an appeal to their readers to destroy the “Jewish papers” and support the Nazi press.
The papers also triumphantly report that at the recent convention of the German Student Federation, M. Lienau, a Hitlerite, was elected president, indicating that the entire German student body will be practically ruled by a Nazi.
Despite repeated pleas of the Nazi papers for support from their followers most of the Hitlerite organs have recently suffered a decline in circulation. According to a survey by the Central Association of German Citizens of Jewish Faith, the Angriff has dropped from a peak of 80,000 last fall to about 45,000 now. The Berlin edition of the Voelkischer Beobachter, which never had more than 5,000 readers, now has less than 2,000 circulation.
The provincial Nazi papers are also suffering regular losses in circulation. “Workers, Peasants and Soldiers,” the organ of the Stennes wing of Hitlerites, has now reached a circulation of 30,000.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
