The premiere performance of the overture “The Chalutzim” (The Pioneers) by A. M. Binder, choirmaster of the Free Synagogue of New York and professor of synagogue music at the Jewish Institute of Religion, was given here by the Palestine Symphonic Ensemble, founded and directed by Zvi Companeetz.

This was the first time in the history of music in Palestine that the first rendition of an orchestral work was presented under the baton of the composer
