Its utility must be strongly commended to all Jews who desire to remain au courant with things Jewish.
A recent incident deserves to be chronicled by us. On the morrow of the opening of hostilities in Shanghai by the Japanese marines, we received a cable from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in London asking in plain words “Are the Jews in Shanghai affected? Are their lives in danger? Please cable all the news available”. Members of our community were deeply appreciative of the solicitude on the part of the Agency and when our reply was worded that all was well with us and unaffected by the great storm which threatened, it can be imagined what a flood of relief it must have caused the readers who have friends and relatives in Shanghai to know that the bombing of Chapei and the bombardment of Woosung Forts had not affected those who resided in the International Settlement in Shanghai.
