The “Angriff” publishes a withdrawal to-day of an allegation which it made on May 4th., that State Secretary Dr. Schaeffer, of the Federal Ministry of Finance, who is resigning his position, will be drawing payment from the Ministry on relinquishing his office as well as the salary attached to his new post.
The “Angriff” states that it is now informed in reliable quarters that this is not true. State Secretary Schaeffer voluntarily wrote to the Ministry on May 2nd., it says, in terms which preclude such payment, relinquishingall his legal rights to such payment.
The same reliable source informs us, the “Angriff” adds, that State Secretary Dr. Schaeffer has never belonged to the Social Democratic Party, as we stated, and that his entry into the service of the State was not brought about or promoted by the Social Democratic Party, or by any other Party.
