Mr. David Adams (Labour) asked the Colonial Secretary in the House of Commons this afternoon what plans were projected for linking up Haifa Harbour with the coasted plain of Palestine by road.
Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister replied that the construction of the new Jaffa-Haifa road is well advanced, and by the end of 1931 there had been 21 kilometres from Jaffa completed. Work is in progress, he added, on a new road from Haifa to Acre. A sum of £18,000 has been allocated for essential road connections in the immediate neighbourhood of Haifa Harbour.
