One of the leaders of the Bulgarian Liberal Party, Advocate Bassaraboff, appeared as Counsel for the defence in the trial of the antisemitic terrorist, Kalpatchieff, and delivered a speech in court in which he went far beyond his brief in heaping calumny and abuse upon the Jews, seeking to justify all the wild antisemitic allegations of the “Protocols”.
Practically all the Jewish members of the Liberal Party have left the Party as a protest.
The Party Committee called a Party meeting in the Jewish quarter, but the Jews boycotted it.
