A group of Zionist Revisionists resident in Harbin have submitted a memorandum protesting against what is termed a breach of treaty on the part of Great Britain as the Mandatory for Palestine, to the Inquiry Commission appointed by the League of Nations to look into the situation in the Far East.
The Inquiry Commission consists of the Earl of Lytton, of England; General McCoy, of the United States; General Claudel, of France; Dr. Von Schnee, of Germany, and Count Aldlavandi of Italy.
The memorandum charges Great Britain with the suppression of the rights of the Jews, carelessness in the face of attacks on Jewish life and open and secret sabotage.
“We realize very well that the nature of our appeal is not within your sphere of action,” says the memorandum, “but seeing in the purpose of your inquiry the strengthening and upholding of just treaties, we cannot but recognize a deep relation in principle between all great aims of the League of Nations.
“Being a part of the population of the Far East, we take the liberty of appealing to you with a protest against the breach of treaty which Great Britain committed in her capacity as Mandatory of Palestine, a country which is under the protection of the League of Nations and the U.S.A., which you represent,” the memorandum continued.
“Years have passed already, since Great Britain is breaking her pledges, given to the Jewish people in the Balfour declaration, which has been confirmed by the League of Nations in the Palestine Mandate.
“As against the suppression of our rights, against the carelessness in face of attacks on Jewish life, which stained the reputation of England, against the disarmament of our self-defense, against the open and secret sabotage which England is conducting at the construction of the Jewish National Home, we raise our flaming protest and ask you to convey it to the High Assembly of which you are the envoys and to the people and governments whom you represent.
“Daring not to indulge further on your attention, we enclose herewith a declaration of the Central Executive Committee of our World Union and beg to emphasize that only by fulfilment of the Mandate, by the most active assistance to the Jewry in the construction of a Jewish Palestine, Great Britain has the right to remain in Palestine as Mandatory,” the memorandum concludes.
