The possibility for developing Jewish colonies in Crimea for the purpose of cultivating cotton plantations, will be discussed at a convention of autonomous national minority regions called for the middle of this month by the central government, it is reported.
The convention will also discuss the present situation in Bira Bidjan, where it is contemplated ultimately establishing a Jewish autonomous region. Particular reference will be made to the lack of medical service and housing facilities as well as the unorganized status of industry and poor roads.
The convention has been called for the purpose of coordinating the second five year plan for the autonomous regions as well as to consider the possibility of navigation on the rivers Biro and Bidzhan.
