Five Jewish youths who had been sentenced to prison terms ranging from eighteen months to three years for alleged participation in the anti-Semitic disturbances in Vilna last November, had their sentences reduced to 45 days in prison yesterday by the Court of Appeal.
The Jewish youths affected by this new decision are named Girwicz, Sawicz, Galperin, Rubin and Dworkin.
The action of the Court of Appeal is in line with its verdict in the case of Shmuel Wulfin, Jewish student sentenced originally to two years imprisonment for allegedly taking part in the events which led to the death of a Christian student killed during the riots, and whose sentence it changed last week, to two months imprisonment.
