A request from Congregation Knesses Tiffereth Israel to exempt its property on North Main Street from taxes, claiming a religious use, has been denied by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Rye.

The Village Board of Rye recently rejected a similar appeal.

The Rye Town Board is currently making a vigorous drive against tax exemption, having just voted to revoke such privileges held by the Rye Country Day School.
