The Yiddish school system in Bira Bidjan is on the verge of collapse owing to the inadequacy of accomodations, lack of text books and a dearth of teachers, the “Emess” asserts today.

The report in the “Emess” which comes from its correspondent in Bira Bidjan, points out that the erection of a school building which was decided upon last year has not even been started.

Many school buildings have been taken over for government offices and the few available are in a dilapidated condition while the local councils refuse to repair them.

There are not sufficient teachers and those available are for the most part unqualified. Text books moreover are completely absent.

The liquidation of the schools is imminent owing to these conditions, the report warns.
