Connecticut Zionists Form State Region

The formation of a Connecticut Zionist Region, which will administer all Zionist affairs within the State, including membership and fund-raising activities, was decided upon at a conference at the Hotel Taft here, in which delegates representing twelve cities in Connecticut were present.

The guest speakers of the afternoon and morning sessions were Louis Lipsky, National Chairman of the American Palestine Campaign, and Morris Margulies, Secretary of the Administrative Committee of the Zionist Organization, who urged a more intensive membership activity. Mr. Lipsky discussed the Jewish situation in America which he regards as growing progressively worse. He contrasted it with the Jewish vitality and courage that is manifested in Palestine and declared that American Jews who associate themselves with the rebuilding of Palestine are restoring themselves intellectually and spiritually.

The following officers of the Region were elected: Abraham Goldstein, Hartford, President; Dr. Samuel Wurzel, Bridgeport, Vice-President; Samuel Umansky, Meriden, Treasurer; Manuel Sachs, New Haven, Secretary; Louis Linderman, New Haven, Chairman of Executive Committee; Rabbi Louis Greenberg, New Haven, Chairman of Cultural Committee; Samuel Roodner, S. Norwalk, Chairman for American Palestine Campaign; Harold Perry, Meriden, Chairman, Young Judea; Samuel Hoffenberg, Hartford, Chairman, National Fund.
