National Socialists attempted to break up a meeting held at the German Labor Temple on Thursday night during an address delivered by the prominent German Jewish professor, Dr. Emil Gumbel, who last month was ousted from the faculty of the University of Heidelberg, owing to Nazi pressure.
A small group of Nazis attended the lecture and made several attempts to shout down Professor Gumbel.
Professor Gumbel, who came to this country in connection with the Eugenics congress, is spending a short time here.
In the course of his address, he stated that the position of the Jews and the labor classes will not be enviable should the Nazis succeed in attaining power.
He accused the government of Chancellor Franz von Papen of tolerating every act of the Nazis and stated his belief that a working agreement between the Nazis and the junker government is not excluded, particularly in the light of recent developments.
