Consternation has been caused in Jewish circles whose political alignment is close to that of the Centre Party by the revelation that Centre Party Deputies in the Prussian Diet voted in committee for the Nazi motion on September 27th, calling for the listing of all Jews employed in State theatres and orchestras.
In a statement issued to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, leaders of the Centre Party offered assurance that the Nazi deputies would vote against the motion when it is presented on the floor of the Diet.
The explanation given for the Centre vote in the Committee is that the Centre Deputies did not realize the importance of the motion as an act of discrimination against the Jews.
