Los Angeles Opens Palestine Campaign Drive

The Jewish community of Los Angeles inaugurated its fund-raising effort for the American Palestine Campaign yesterday, with a goal of $30,000. The campaign is headed by Superior Court Judge Benjamin J. Scheinman as Chairman, and Meyer Elsasser and Federal Judge Harry A. Hollzer as Honorary Chairmen.

All elements of the community are represented in the campaign personnel, which includes as Vice-Chairmen : Herman Bachrack, President of the Zionist District; Mrs. Mayer Bennett, President of the B’nai Brith Women’s Auxiliary; Aaron Riche, President of the B’nai Brith; Dorothy Fox, President of Junior Hadassah; Mrs. Joseph J. Schwartz, President of Hadassah; Dr. Nathan Saltzman, of Poale Zion; Mizrachi; Arthur Wolpe, President of Herzl Zionists; Treasurer, Adolph Sieroty, President of the Nathan Straus Society; and Honorary Secretary, Miss Regina Benno.

Determined that in its first independent campaign for Palestine in four years it shall raise a substantial sum for the maintenance of the activities of the Jewish Agency, the Los Angeles community is making intensive preparations to canvass the city, urging upon individuals and organizations the contribution of maximum sums, in view of the critical financial situation confronting the Jewish Agency in Palestine.
