A Government Commission for the purpose of investigating the Consistoire of Bulgarian Jews with a view to official recognition was appointed yesterday by the Minister for Foreign and Religious Affairs.

The act meets with the satisfaction of Bulgarian Jewry, who have been pressing for such recognition. The Consistoire has been functioning since 1920 without government interference. The government, however, has merely tolerated its constitution without confirming it.

The Consistoire is now taking steps to insure the nomination of a Jewish representative on the Investigating Commission. In this connection a Consistoire delegation hopes to be received by Premier Nokola Muschanoff.
