The oath of office will be administered to Governor-elect Herbert H. Lehman as the first Jewish governor of the State of New York on the night of December 31st by his brother, Judge Irving Lehman of the Court of Appeals.

The oath of office will be administered in the Executive Mansion.

Judge Lehman administered the oath of office to his brother as Lieutenant Governor at both elections.

Colonel Lehman, pleased with his victory and amazed at the size of his plurality, is planning a week’s vacation. With 35 districts still to be heard from, Governor-elect Lehman rolled up a plurality of 841,284, the largest on record for office in New York.

Completer returns indicate that more Jews have been elected to office.

The list of Jewish Congressmen in the House of Representatives is thirteen. The state of Illinois is to have two Congressmen, A. J. Sabath, who was re-elected to office, and Julius Klein, elected for his first time as Congressman at large.

Mr. Klein is the editor and publisher of a German language daily in Chicago, “Staats-Herold.”

The name of Bernard Baruch is being prominently mentioned for the post of treasurer in the cabinet of President-elect Roosevelt.

St. Louis Zionist leader and chairman of the Board of Directors of Jewish Education, was elected Circuit Judge for a full six year term.

He is the only Jew to be elected to a major office in Missouri, in Tuesday’s balloting, receiving 200,000 votes and a plurality of 50,000 over his Republican opponent. He will take office on January 1.
