For the first time yesterday the new Louis Marshall Memorial Science building of the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University was used for opening sessions of the first annual Forest Nursery Conference. The two-day conclave, which includes among its representatives the leading foresters of the country, will have all its meetings in the new structure, which was erected as an additional unit to the State Forestry College in memory of Louis Marshall, president of its Board of Trustees for twenty years until his death in 1929.
The new building is now nearing completion and will be officially dedicated sometime in February or March of next year, when leading figures such as the Governor, secretary of agriculture, chief forester of the United States, deans of forest schools and heads of organizations in the forestry field will participate in the ceremony.
At present workmen are engaged in putting the finishing touches on the interior of the building, and it will be ready for occupancy by the students the first week in February, the opening time of the second semester of the college year.
