Two of the most important leaders of the Kalinindorf Jewish Region were threatened with expulsion from the Communist Party today unless they secure the full government share of the crop from the region.
The reprimanded Jews are Abram, secretary of the Kalinindorf Communist Party, and Rabotchev, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Party.
A similar threat was made against Donenberg, secretary of the Communist Party in the Kochovker Region in Crimea.
The attitude of the Central headquarters of the Communist Party is considered unjust inasmuch as the majority of Jewish collectives have already supplied their full quotas, only a small number falling fifteen percent short of their quotas.
The non-Jewish collectives, it is pointed out, are much further behind in their payments.
The “Emess,” discussing the position of the Jews in the collectives, finds it most satisfactory. The average Jewish famer’s family receives between thirty and forty pud bread for the winter, the paper points out. In the light of the very acute bread shortage from which the majority of the Jewish villages suffer, the Jewish collectives may regard themselves as lucky to have the barest necessities.
