Governor Julius L. Meier of Oregon, was elected president of Temple Beth Israel, at the annual meeting of the Congregation.

Governor Meier’s acceptance of this post is regarded as a unique honor, particularly in view of his arduous duties as Chief Executive of the State.

“I am glad of the opportunity to render what service I can to Congregation Beth Israel,” Governor Meier declared in his acceptance. “It is an honor to lead such an old and dignified institution and I appreciate the confidence reposed in me by my co-religionists.”
