The police department here has issued the following announcement: “With reference to the report of an alleged contemplated attack on Hitler by a Breslau Jew by the name of Neumann, the authorities concerned are unaware of any such incident.”
The official communique goes on to say that as rumors of “the contemplated attack were current in Breslau during Herr Hitler’s recent visit here, the authorities duly instituted an investigation into the rumors. It has now been established that the rumor is wholly baseless.”
In Jewish quarters here the hope is expressed that this official announcement will finally dispose of a most dangerous rumor which might have had serious consequences for the Jewish population of Breslau and the neighborhood.
