An offer to American travelers in Palestine to aid them in the present banking situation in this country and to protect their interests if they have checking accounts here or if they have travelers checks was contained in a cable sent today to the Executive of the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem by Morris Rothenberg, President of the Zionist Organization of America.
Indicating that the Zionist Organization of America is anxious that all American tourists in Palestine shall be protected from possible exploitation because of a misunderstanding in Palestine of the banking status in the United States, Mr. Rothenberg made public here the cablegram addressed to the Jewish Agency headquarters in Palestine.
The “Jewish Daily Bulletin” of March 8th, carried telegraphic advices from Palestine to the effect that several hundred American Jewish tourists who had arrived in Jerusalem this week, were severely handicapped by a shortage of cash. It was added that the Palestine banks had definitely refused to cash American checks.
