Almost immediately following the issue of its statement deprecating the disconcerting reports published abroad, the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, has issued an official statement confirming that it is now impossible to obtain Kosher meat in most parts, of Germany. The statement points out that there exists no constitutional basis for the numerous Shechita prohibitions decreed by the various local authorities. It expresses the hope that the Central Government will take into consideration the religious nature of Schechita and the vast body of scientific proof testifying to the humanity of the methods followed in Schechita, and will frame a Schechita law accordingly.
