The petitions of the parliamentary clubs of Jewish deputies of Poland and Czechoslovakia regarding persecution of the Jews in German Silesia to the League of Nations are not acceptable on formal grounds, it was learned today from the League secretariat at Geneva.
The Polish-German convention which governs in situations arising in the plebiscite areas provides that petitions are to be received only from residents of Silesia and not from foreign organizations.
Jewish political circles expressed themselves as shocked that the League of Nations is not considering the facts of the situation, but only the formalities involved.
