Jewish Attorney Suicide After Prison Release

Frank Roem, well-known Jewish attorney who appeared for the defense in many criminal trials of great public interest, committed suicide yesterday by taking veronal. Herr Roem had just been released from Dortmund prison, where he had been under “protective arrest” His law partner, Herr Elias, of Dortmund, who had also been held in prison there, died in prison on April 18. He was said officially to have committed suicide.

Marco Steinkohl, aged 52, a Polish Jew, was yesterday sentenced to nine months in prison by a special court for allegedly spreading “atrocity tales.”
