Mussolini’s Government, according to Herr Rosenberg, director of the foreign affairs section of the Nazis, will never attain real greatness until it is freed of its “Jewish chain”. In Herr Rosenberg’s book, “The Future Path of German Foreign Policy” (published by Frz. Eher, Nachf. Munich), Mussolini is condescendingly treated as an imperfect, if talented, disciple. As quoted in the official Polish Gazette and the Presse Universelle, Rosenberg’s book gives Mussolini the credit for having developed on a small scale in his Chart for Labor certain essentially “Germanic” or “Hanseatic” ideals perfectly expressed only in Hitler’s organization.
One of the crying imperfections of Mussolini’s system, in Rosenberg’s opinion, is the toleration of the Jews “who have besieged Mussolini to offer him their aid”. Mussolini’s private secretary, Mme. Sarfatti, is Jewish. One of the chiefs of the Fascist party, Angelo Olivetti, is a Jew, as are thirty-five members of the Italian Parliament, fifty officials of the consular service and eight hundred and forty professors. It was a Jew, ironically enough named Aryas, who worked out the Fascist Constitution. In 1926, the King of Italy gave his most distinguished order to a Jewish General and a Rabbi. And Herr Rosenberg forgets to mention in the list of Mussolini’s pro-Semitic errors, the fact that he has appointed a Jew, Guido Jung, as his Finance Minister.
The purification of Italy from Semitic influences is only a preliminary to the realization of Rosenberg’s foreign policy, as is the overthrow of Bolshevism, the proclamation of the independence of the Ukraine, and the isolation, amid a ring of German vassals, of France, instrument of “Jewish economic imperialism” and of the future “Negro Empire”. When all these little objectives are accomplished, Herr Rosenberg envisages a mighty “Aryan” Germany cooperating with Rome, Kiev (not Moscow) and London to Aryanize the world and conquer the Orient.
The London correspondent of the Illustrated Daily of Cracow (as quoted in the Presse Universelle) points out the connection between this scheme and Rosenberg’s recent London adventure, suggesting that the imaginative German held out as a bait for English support of an anti-Semitic Aryan “crusade”, an interest, once Bolshevist Russia was conquered, in the Soviet oil industry, and the payment of German private debts to English bankers.
THE OLD EASTERN SCHEME
The whole scheme is, of course, only a repetition of the outworn Nordic mysticism of the Berlin-Bagdad railway dream and the whole “Drang noch Osten” movement of pre-war Germany.
The only element added by the chimerical Rosenberg (true intellectual son of that nebulous pre-war Russia where he was born and bred), is the suppression of Jews and Negroes along the whole route of German “expansive imperialism”.
