The government of Greece was urged to follow the example of Turkey and utilize a unique opportunity by inviting famous Jewish doctors and scientists expelled from Germany, by the Minister of Economics, M. Dragoumis, upon his return from a visit to Turkey.

A Jewish deputation, headed by Chief Rabbi Koretz, which interviewed Premier Tsaldaris and M. Dragoumis, received the former’s thanks and listened to a declaration that the Greek government has always given proof of its tolerance toward the Jews. The Premier said that the Jewish race always has contributed enormously to the economic development of the Greek state.

M. Dragoumis praised the example set by Turkey, declaring that the presence of Jewish doctors there makes Istanboul (Constantinople) a center of medicine. He said that many patients, instead of proceeding to Germany, now go to Istanboul with the result that Turkey benefits greatly both ecconomically and socially.
