chairman of the Board of that newspaper, has accepted an invitation to attend the dinner here Tuesday evening in honor of Dr. Sherwood Eddy, writer and sociologist, according to a cablegram received from the famed editor by the Jewish Daily Bulletin, which is sponsoring the tribute.

Speakers at the dinner will include Dr. Eddy, Mr. Blumenfeld, Hon. Joseph M. Proskauer, Kirby Page and B. C. Vladeck.

Mr. Blumenfeld, who went to England from this country over forty years ago as an American newspaper correspondent and remained there to introduce American newspaper methods and become one of the outstanding figures in British life, will arrive here on Tuesday on the S.S. Olympic and will attend the dinner, which will be held at the Hotel Commodore, the same evening. Following this dinner, Mr. Blumenfeld will embark on an eight-weeks lecture tour of the country, under the direction of Colston Leigh, Inc., 521 Fifth Avenue, during which he will discuss Anglo-American relations and will speak of his forty years in journalism and recount his recollections of personal contact with Queen Victoria, King Edward, the Prince of Wales and others.

The dinner to Dr. Eddy is being tendered in appreciation of his courageous action in Berlin last Spring when, in a public address, before an audience including many Nazi leaders, he vigorously condemned Nazi persecution of the Jews and liberal elements—the first instance of a foreign observer raising his voice within Germany in behalf of the victims of Nazi intolerance. Non-Jews and Jews have joined in the tribute.

The Rev. Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick, Judge Irving Lehman and Dr. Mary Woolley, of Mt. Holyoke College, are honorary chairmen of the dinner committee. Paul Block, Dr. Emanuel Libman, James Marshall, Justice Joseph M. Proskauer, Dr. Nathan Ratnoff, James N. Rosenberg, Morris Rothenberg and Roger W. Straus are honorary vice-chairmen. Frank L. Weil is chairman of the committee.

In accepting the invitation to serve as an honorary chairman of the dinner committee, Dr. Woolley wrote:

“The dinner in honor of Dr. Sherwood Eddy is a gracious recognition of a fearless person and it gives me pleasure to have a part in the tribute to him. Will you extend my appreciation to Doctor Eddy and my congratulations to those who are improving the opportunity to honor him?”
