The Jewish Social Service Bureau of Brooklyn and the Jewish Board of Guardians have merged their organizations in order to meet the problems of delinquency among Jewish youth more efficiently, George Z. Medalie, United States District Attorney for the Southern district of New York and president of the Jewish Board of Guardians announced. The merger was the result of an intensive study of delinquency among Jewish boys and girls in New York City, made recently.
“The need for consolidation came principally from the fact that the Jewish population in Brooklyn has increased by leaps and bounds in the last two decades, “said Mr. Medalie.
“It has been felt for some time that the efforts to aid those whom we called delinquents have been scattered and that the work should be concentrated in one agency. There were difficulties in the way, more of a formal nature, which had to be overcome; but with the aid of those interested in the work the two organizations have now pooled their efforts.”
