A drive to raise about $142,000 for the use of 35 Jewish philanthropies in this city has been inaugurated by the Jewish Welfare Fund which is to confine its activities among Jewish residents here. The campaign got under way at a dinner held at the Alms Hotel.

Rabbi Jacob Tarshish, of Columbus, voiced a plea for unity of Jews in the United States as a means of militating against Nazi propaganda.
